AMPS is a public primary school in Kempton Park. We have been in the education business for more than 40 years and we’d like to think that it shows. The efficient and effective manner in which the school runs is due to our Principal Mr. W. Botha and the experienced staff who teach at AMPS. Mr. Botha along with the governing body and support of the parents have created a safe and fun learning environment for all the children who attend the school.
At AMPS we work with enthusiastic and responsible parents who understand that in order for the quality of education to constantly improve we as adults must teach our children to be disciplined, responsible, honest and hard working. This is only imparted to your children if you practice the same principals in your daily life, remember that our children are constantly learning from our attitudes towards almost everything.
The School Badge was originally a shield with an Aloe but was changed in to the current badge by Mr. Steenkamp (previous principal) and the governing body. This was to coincide with the changing of the uniform. The older uniform was brown and gold. The official colours of AMPS at this time are navy blue, red and white (gold and black are used in small areas as well)
We’ve stuck with the original Aloe on the badge. The significance of the Aloe may seem unimportant however despite being part of a very large species of plant certain Aloe “Aloe Vera” are not found in the wild anymore and are more select. Aloe is also native to Africa and is used in many pharmaceutical products. The plant signifies AMPS’ strength, persistence in growing and moving forward and feeding nature.
The school motto / slogan is “Scientia est Virtus” and means “Knowledge is Strength”
Born in 1994 Ukuthula the teddy bear (meaning “peace” in Zulu) was sent around the world by our principal Mr Steenkamp. He popped Ukuthula on a plane with a small backpack, some information about South Africa and AMPS with the simple effective idea of peace, goodwill and knowledge!
