Facilities & Sport

AMPS is a strong contender in various leagues and includes Athletics, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Chess and cultural activities such as Eisteddfod and Marimbas. In addition we offer netball, hockey, cricket, rugby and swimming academy in the afternoons. We have included some brief descriptions and images below for your further perusal.

Rugby Field &
Athletics

AMPS – Aston Manor Primary School has a number of facilities which cater to a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. Currently the school has a full size rugby field and rugby poles, an athletics track which is prepared at the start of each athletics season as well as a cricket pitch and newly redone astro cricket nets.

Pavilion 

The school has a large double sided pavilion which allows spectators to view both sides of the field. The pavilion area is fitted with full sound for both sides and allows for comfortable shady viewing areas as well as bathrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities for participating learners and schools.

Hockey &
Netball

Mr Botha and the school body allocated funds for a new Astro Hockey field as well as 4 astro netball courts. The courts are all weather proof and newly fitted and painted allowing for multiple games at the same time. The pavilion above allows for great viewing angles of games being played.

Resource
Centre

The school library has a qualified Librarian who is the Resource Manager for the school. Mrs Paxton forms the integral part of digital citizenship and humanitarian endeavours. The library is fitted with recent books and novels which are catalogued and changed frequently. In addition the library has workstations for the children to research online within a safe enviornment.

Swimming
Pool

Training of grade R -7 learners for swimming galas. The Swimming pool is in full sun with demarcated shaded areas and fitted with diving boards and swimming lanes.

Inter-House galas are hosted at our pool and all the swimmers have great fun competing against one another.

IT-Centre

The IT-Centre at AMPS is fitted with desktop computers with internet access. Each class attends computers once a week for half an hour. Grade 1-3 learners are taught basic computer skills. Grade 4-7 learners are taught Computer Application Technology content and skills. Grade 4-7 learners are also exposed to an online maths program called Matific. The IT-Centre is the heart of ICT operations at AMPS. Grade 4-7 learners are allowed to bring their own headsets to use during Matific lessons.

Grade R

Grade R is fondly named “Goosey” and is represented by a Mother Goose looking after her children 🙂 The Grade R facility has newly renovated bathrooms as well as artificial grass play areas and Jungle Gyms for the learners. After school hours the area becomes a Aftercare Facility for parents who need assistance in the afternoons.
