Facilities & Sport

AMPS is a strong contender in various leagues and includes Athletics, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Chess and cultural activities such as Eisteddfod and Marimbas. In addition we offer a cricket and rugby academy in the afternoons. We have included some brief descriptions and images below for your further perusal.

Rugby Field &

AMPS – Aston Manor Primary School has a number of facilities which cater to a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. Currently the school has a full size rugby field and rugby poles, an athletics track which is prepared at the start of each athletics season as well as a cricket pitch and newly redone astro cricket nets.

The school has a large double sided pavilion which allows spectators to view both sides of the field. The pavilion area is fitted with full sound for both sides and allows for  comfortable shady viewing areas as well as bathrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities for participating learners and schools.

Hockey &

Mr Botha and the school body allocated funds for a new Astro Hockey field as well as 4 astro netball courts. The courts are all weather proof and newly fitted and painted allowing for multiple games at the same time. The pavilion above allows for great viewing angles of games being played.

A hockey academy is also avialble for learners who would like to attend.

The school library has a qualified Librarian who is the Resource Manager for the school. Mrs Steenkamp forms the integral part of digital citizenship and humanitarian endeavours. The library is fitted with recent books and novels which are catalogued and changed frequently. In addition the library has workstations for the children to research online within a safe enviornment.

The school has a newly installed full size outdoor swimming pool and has begun training of coaches for swimming galas. The Swimming pool is in full sun with demarcated shaded areas and fitted with diving boards and swimming lanes.

Interhouse Gala’s are hosted at our pool and all the swimmers have great fun competing against one another.

The Computer Room at AMPS is fitted with desktop computers and internet access. Each class attends computers once a week for an hour. The class teacher will go through the curriculum or they will cover classwork with the children using the digital whiteboard. The LAB is the heart of ICT operations at AMPS. Grade 4-7 are allowed to bring their own headsets or purchase them from the school as part of the stationery pack.

Grade R

Grade R is fondly named “Goosey” and is represented by a Mother Goose looking after her children 🙂 The Grade R facility has newly renovated bathrooms as well as artificial grass play areas and Jungle Gyms for the learners. After school hours the area becomes a Aftercare Facility for parents who need assistance in the afternoons.
