Interhouse Gala

Interhouse Gala 150 150 schoolman

swimming2013

We would like to hold our Interhouse Swimming Gala on Wednesday, the 27th of February (weather permitting) at the Kempton Park Municipal Pool from 14:00 to 17:00.

There are many children in our school who are able to swim and I would really like to encourage them to participate in this fun event.

Every child who swims will earn points for their house, per event.  3 sports ribbons will be awarded to the winners in each event.  The first 6 swimmers for each event will also receive extra house points.  Trophies will be awarded in Assembly to the best Junior and Senior boy and girl swimmers.

Please download and print the swimming letter if you don’t already have it (complete the tear off slip please)

We’ve added the Interschool Photos you can find them on our Google+ page and Facebook Page. Congratulations to the athletes who managed to place AMPS second out of the Seven Schools who participated. Monday was really really hot and Tuesday morning was just as cold but despite the extremes in temperature  the athletes and coaches did a great job. We hosted the event this year and are happy to say everything went very well!

At AMPS we consistently try to improve all aspects of education and upgrading our ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) is no exception. As such we have been working on a complete e-learning course to assist learners. Children attending their weekly computer class will need to follow and complete the lessons provided by the e-learning suite (Using sound is an invaluable component of these lessons).

Headsets complete the learning suite by incorporating audio (a proven method of teaching) this ensures your children will remember and implement what they have learnt.

We require learners from Gr.4 to Gr.7 read more

AMPS Prefects 2013

Welcome 2013

Congratulations to all the learners who made it for prefects and monitors. We select learners based on a great deal of things, input from all staff and other learners. All round leadership abilities, absenteeism, marks in the class, performance on the sports field and their ability to be good roles models for other children. We also take into account their consistently neat appearances and helpful natures.

You can have a look at the gallery on our google+ page. We’ll be sending the photos to the Kempton Express next week.

Snow!

Snow! 150 150 schoolman

Aston Manor Primary School snow

The children were very excited yesterday as many of them experienced snow for the first time. (Some teachers were just as excited) We got one or two photos but not many as it happened during class time. The cars driving past gave the children on the field a friendly snowy “hello hoot” as they passed by.

The learners and teachers of Aston Manor Primary School gave three wheelchairs to children in desperate need of them.

A very big “Thank You” goes out to the learners, teachers and many other people who collected over 110 kg of bread tags (a toothpick weighs more than these bread tags!) which were then sent to Interwaste for recycling and in return we received 7 wheelchairs, Three of which were handed over on the 30th May 2012. Three children – Vuyo, Vincent and Fortunate -were identified with the help of Mrs Leona Scheepers of the Community Outreach Program or COP.
